HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO MAKE FAUX LEATHER EARRINGS WITH CRICUT

• Cricut maker, Cricut Explorer Air 2 or Cricut Joy
• Cricut StrongGrip mat or a very sticky green mat
• Transfer tape
• Faux Leather
• Earring hooks
• Jewelry tools or small needle nose pliers
• Free Bow Earring Cut file
• Painter’s tape
• Scissors or a rotary cutter to trim materials
• Glue: Hot glue, super glue or glitter glue.

INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE FAUX LEATHER EARRINGS WITH CRICUT

Upload the bow earrings SVG/cut file into Cricut Design Space.

In my previous post, you will learn how to best prepare faux leather and what material settings to use: CLICK HERE.

Faux leather allows for a lot of creativity with a variety of colors and patterns. For the bow earrings I created with my Cricut machine, I choose two different faux leather materials in a coordinating color. However, you could just as easily use all the same faux leather color.

Using a faux leather with a thick glitter top is more difficult with this project because the bow is very small. If you find your faux leather is not cutting well, it may be that the leather is not sticking to the Cricut mat. Try flipping the faux leather over and securing all four sides to see if it makes a difference for your Cricut machine cuts.

ASSEMBLY OF FAUX LEATHER BOW EARRINGS

To glue together the Cricut made faux leather bow earrings, I used a combination of hot glue and quick setting super glue. Faux leather can come with different types of coatings. For the faux leather I used, hot glue did not hold well and I switched to super glue. Use whatever glue works with the type of faux leather you have.

ASSEMBLY OF FAUX LEATHER BOW EARRINGS: STEP ONE

To assemble the Cricut made faux leather bow earrings, fold over one of the sides of the bow and secure with a small spot of glue. Hold together briefly to set the glue.

Next, folder over the second side and glue the tab on top of the first. Hold everything together until the glue is set.

With both sides secured, wrap the centerpiece around the front and use a small spot of glue on the back – hold tight until the glue is set.

Continue assembling your cricut made faux leather bow earring by applying glue to the ribbon part of the bow and place on the earring base.

ASSEMBLY OF FAUX LEATHER BOW EARRINGS: STEP FIVE

Use a couple small spots of glue to secure the bow to the ribbon piece on the earring base.

The final task is to add the faux leather earrings to earring hooks and use jewelry tools or a needle nose piler to close the loops.
